This was an interesting brief in that the client wanted everything in the garden to be useful. So we created a city garden designed to entice wildlife and produce a good crop of herbs and vegetables.
The dining area has been sited in the sunny side of the garden away from the north facing house. A sunken lawn creates an intimate lawn area bordered by grasses and perennials. Rising out of the planting, the link between the city and garden is made with sculptural groupings of tall gabion towers, which also serve as insect houses.
